WavePoint Super Blue Actinic 460, how many hours a day?
Will lights like these promote algae growth? Hair algae? Cyano?
I have them coming on at 7:30AM in the morning, so I can feed my fish before I leave for work. These are also the last lights to turn off at night, around 9:30PM. Is 14 hours a day too much for these? (My non-actinic bulbs are running for about 6 hours.) http://www.wave-point.com/images/LampMain2_enlarge.jpg |

I replaced one of the Super Blue T5's with the less-bright actinic that came with the fixture, and the result is obvious after just one day.
Less algae growth on my sandbed. Every day I was coming home to more brown areas. I thought I had brought it on with increased feeding... but it looks more like the lighting was the cause now. |
