Hamilton Cebu 72” fixture – finish and appearance?
I’m considering the Hamilton Cebu fixture for my open top 180. I like the combination of mogul bulbs and T5s. I’m concerned about the appearance though. Can anyone speak to the aesthetics of this fixture? I realize the answer may be very subjective, but opinions count. The pictures I’ve seen make the fixture look functional but not especially visually appealing , even compared to other Hamilton models like the Belize Sun. How about spillover? Again, judging from the pictures, it seems a lot of light would escape through the sides and blind those sitting in the room. The wife is supportive of my hobby as long as it “looks nice in the living room.” Her words. Anyways, photos can be misleading, hence my question.
Thanks much. |

Funny timing on the responses. I just received mine last Friday. It has 3x400w MH with the electronic ballasts. There just are not a lot of options in 72" single-ended metal halide/T5 combos (my requirements), at least not without spending $3500 or more. This seemed like the best choice.
The good: It's bright. It seems reasonably well made. All bulbs worked the first time. Oh, did I mention it's bright? The bad: The mounts it ships with are horrible. They are difficult to adjust for height, were probably a little low for my needs and they flexed in a way that made me uncomfortable. I ended up hanging mine. It has an industrial look to it. The fans are loud. This isn't really a complaint. You have to move air to keep that much light cool. Would I buy it again? Yes. I am satisfied. I do wish though that someone would make a quality, stylish fixture with this bulb combination at a reasonable price. I had high hopes for the Maristar 2, but that one is still top tenuous. |

They run from just under $1000 to around $1400, depending on bulbs and ballasts.
