I was looking at the same light today...I'm thinking of getting one but wish there was more input from others. It seems like a great light for the money. Let me know if you find out anything about them.

No lens, and the dimension is 32" for the 165w and 130w models, which I guess is designed for 36" wide tanks.
165w, the highest end model, isn't quite enough for 36" SPS tanks really, but it'll make a pretty good fixture for LPS and softie tanks. |

I just got the Key K3 165W dimmable version. It's only been on my tank for about a week now but I'm very happy with it. Let me know if you want more info on it.

Does the new K3 dimmable need more blue like the earlier versions? I know people were supplimenting the K2s with supplimental led strips like reefbrights.

I think they site says they are using XP-G', and XP-E's. The web does give tank size reccomendations, my 48 x 24 would need 2 of the 130w or maybe even 2 of the 165w for all out lighting.

They are a company that came out shortly after Maxspect and are made in China. I would like to see if they are made as well as Maxspects. The controllability sure looks better.

It sure does. I tried looking some some sites but it's just distributors only. I would like to see a sight that shows and explains all the different models and options.

Here's a comparison from the distributor, make of it what you will. l've ordered a couple of the 24 WIDE D version for my 120cm tank, l miss the shimmer effect that my t5's don't give. A few people in the uk have them and seem content. Mike |

No reviews yet? I might get this, but was wondering what others think of the unit.

Some local reefers have tried it with mixed results. The color is fine, but it's just too dim for anything but LPS/softies (and FOT).

Why are K3 par readings from their website states its the same as the Maxspects? That does not make the K3 dimmer than the Maxspects. I was assuming that the K3 are too dim because the fixtures are longer than Maxspects. If K3 fixtures or if the LED were laid out like the Maxspects would the brightness be equal?? |

I have a 170 gal tank and even with 144 3w leds the tank is still a little dim need to up it to about 170 to be in a good even bright light. So if those leds are 1w there isnt that many so plan on getting a few for your tank

I've no idea where you get the PAR data from, if it's fish-street.com they probably make it up because they're trying to push the sales. I wouldn't trust that place with my money, scams and mis-information and such. Anyway, the K3 are much longer and are designed for a longer tank, and for the output is therefore dimmer for the entire tank. Consider this, Maxspect has a 230w (fixture is 32" wide) for a 3' tank, whereas the K3 is only 130w for the same width. You can do the maths. |

I think I read somewhere that the K3 and Maxspect are made by the same manufacturer?
I am really interested in buying the K3's for my SPS tank but I can't find any par readings on them? Anyone own these fixtures and what do you think of them?

I just got the 115w k3 that I specially ordered with a 1:1 blue white bulb ratio for my 30g quarantine tank. It took about a month to get oft directly from the manufacture. It has some cool features but has been a bit confusing to program, the instructions are all but useless. It seems to be well built and bright. I have only had it for a couple days and am still messing around with it. Also the only thing I can compare it to is my reef Brite strips.
