Talking The true swap...

The location has been set for the swap... It will be held at PLAY, March 13, 2011 11am-4pm

We have modified the rules a bit so that everyone can walk away happy...

We encourage every member to attend even if you don't have frags to trade, because through the generosity of our members we are going to make sure that every one walks away with desirable coral (that means no xenia ). That's right you will not walk away empty handed. The only true rule of the swap is that it is for members only, and that we all have a good time.

SO I'LL SEE EVERYONE THERE...

The True Swap, draft style...
And the number one draft pick goes to............
member #1 JCS1236 Julio Congratulations
The swap format will be run in similar fashion to the NBA Draft. We will have over a 150-200 coral frags from softies, LPS, and SPS.
The person with the #1 draft pick will pick first but only have 30 seconds to choose. The person with the #2 draft pick will pick second, and so on.
You can trade your draft pick with other member and side deals. So there will be swapping going on during the draft lol.
Funny thing is that all the coral will be available for viewing and inspection, but just before the swap (er) draft we will shuffle the frags jars around on the table.

I believe Harry was joking about that one, lol.... mixing the frags around you joker. We know that doing that will mess up the classification for people who bring Class A items. LMAO.

I don't know... he seemed pretty serious when he told me LOL. it would be good to mix so that people dont memorize where the frag they want is

JCS was the first member to join, so we gave him the #1 pick. After that we have not determined the draft order. We do have some ideas but maybe the members can put some ideas in play.

OPPS... CORRECTION

There will be NO Classification Code. We ENCOURAGE everyone to try and bring something. If you can not, NO BIG DEAL.. You'll still walk away with something different that chances are, you do not already have in your tank.

Here is how it will go....

No fresh Cuts... so frag it now to ensure survivability for the True Swap.
If you do bring an item, try and show up earlier as the inspection rule still applies.
When you bring the coral make sure it's labeled. Ex: Tri Color Validia... Then we will inspect it. If it passes the inspection, it will be placed in a container with the Coral name on it(So you'll know not to pick your own or a duplicate coral that is in your tank already when it comes draft picking time).
You must also be a paid NY Reef Club member. In the event that you are not. NO BIG DEAL again. You can come pay your dues, the Day of the Event.
This entitles you to every monthly General Meeting, Food & Beverages, Tank Tours, The Party Bus, and every social event we have.
That's it!!

REMEMBER.. it's being held at PLAY. Courtesy of Thane!!!
So you know we'll have lots of fun!
See you all there!!

I'm looking forward to the side trades.
hmmmm
"I'll give you my second n third round drafts for your first round draft..."
or
"I'll give you these to frags for that one frag"
or
"I have softies only tank and I have this super duper SPS frag, what do you have to trade?"

LOL endless scenarios....,
