Overflow noise

I have a hang on the back overflow the tube style which is rated at 600 gph and a return pump which is rated at 700gph. Now my question is the thing is so freakin loud, is there any way to quiet the noise down so its not so bad?

maybe put a foam pad near the motor but not too close to quite her down
