My 75g tank and salt water tank experience

Well its been about 4 years since i got a salt water tank and i think since then i have been on reefcentral about 5 times a week, im definitly addicted. Unfortuantly i am not rich so i have to deal with wat i got . Anyway i just wanted to share some pictures and see wat everyone thought of my tank.

in 06 i started a 55g tank with about 3 months of study and research. no intention of sps or corals and jsut wanted some fish.
here is my first salt water tank and some of its progress.
my maintance is water changes now which i do 15g once every 10 days and dose calc and alk and mad. besides keeing everythign clean thats about it.

1st day

3 weeks, as you can see i had no clue

tank at about 6 months. as you can see it takes me a very long time becuase of money issues but i love this hooby and the wait is worth it. at this point i had no clue about corals just started researching skimmers and as you can see i bought a decent hob skimmer, which i actually didnt like to much.

tank at about a year old, take note of the small brown pagoda scroll on top left. Also my lights are upgraded to a 4 bulb t5 fixture, 54wts each.

this is my tank at about two years right before i sprung a leak and had to put my tank on hold for about 6 months until i could find another tank for lack of money.. luckly i had a old 55g tank that i could keep everything in until i got the tank i wanted.

finally after sitting in this tank for 6 months

i found this 75g tank for a steal. and this is my attempt of a cool aquascaping .

now about 4 and a half years later this is my 75g, sumpless, basically skimmerless tank. i say skimmerless cause all i have is a corallife super skimmer 65.
heres my awesome fish room \

currently i am dosing soda ash, because my ph was running low and i find that is helps maintain my ph at about 8.3 and keeps my alk at about 9 very nicely. i also dose calicium chloride and keep that at about 450ppm and mag i dose as needed and keep that at about 1400.

the pagoda scroll is now about the size of a basketball in the right corner and has been thru so much and is now about 4 years old .
well that is my short very inexspensive trip thru my aquarium memory lane. One thing i have learned that i think everyone can take heart of is how important water changes are. as you can see i have very little in terms of filtration besides LR and a very bad skimmer and everything in my tank does awesome. I think if you do proper and correct water changes alot of peoples problems could be solved. well thats about it hope u like my tank and if u have anything to say please do , always can use help and constructive criticism.

I think your tank looks amazing. I too run basically skimmerless ( my HOB is very loud and the tank is in my room so it is unplugged any time I am in their, which is quite often) but good job, keep up the good work!!!

Haha thanks wedward. Yeah my tank is in my room too, i either put a pillow over my head or shutit off. Its amazing how little u actually need to run a sps tank.

Wow, you've done an amazing job with that tank! What salt mix are you using, and do you test your new water before the water change?
