Anyone using the WXM module? What exactly does it do?
Hi all,
I may be able to get an MP10w ES for just doing some work for an LFS and I'm thinking about getting the WMX module to go along with it. What does it do, though? Best I can tell, this will allow you to program different modes at different times of the day, but that's about the only advantage I can see. Other than maybe not having to worry about the ES losing programming when the power goes out. And maybe feed mode. Who has it? Do you like it? Brandon

Hi Brandon,
I´m doing - and it´s a great job! I´m using to control two MP40´s and two MP60´s on 300g tank - all modes are supported (costant, reef crest, lagoon random, nutrient transport, tidal swell, pulse, sync and anti-sync). Unfortunatelly I´m facing some power-losses on last three days but everithing is good - since all programming commands are stored on apex controller. Just $140 on SocalTropicalFish Outlet (http://www.socaltropicalfishoutlet.com/) talk to Tom. Go ahead that´s a good investment! May this document can help you to decide: http://www.neptunesys.com/WXM-20104031_WEB.pdf Last edited by Euler Kernighan; 02/23/2011 at 05:32 AM. |

It's not just that you can change modes at different times of the day. The WXM fully integrates the Vortech powerheads with the Apex controller. You can change pump modes based on time of day, day of week, feed cycles, Sun/Moon cycles, etc. You can change pump modes based on temp or pH. You can coordinate pump modes with other outlets - if your lights outlet turns off you can change pump mode regardless of time or day. You can graph and analyze reports of pump modes over time. You can turn off/on a pump via a smartphone. I'm sure others can think of even more examples.
The WXM does a lot. Buy it!

Thanks for the replies, guys!
Its a little pricey, but that may be around the same amount I'll get out of my Viper MH light once I get my LEDs. Could be worth it! Brandon

Thanks for your post aquamanic.... I'm waiting for the controller as I just placed the order. I can get the WXM locally for a good price... so I think I will go for it.

so far i've order apex controller with base unit. But I will be ordering WMX very soon. Just need to finish doing homework on it.
Question: Can you reset the pumps remotely - through web? They work with the standard controller that came with MP40W last year? I haven't upgraded to the new EcoSmart (spelling) |

Not sure what you mean by reset the pumps.
No, you don't need Ecosmart. Just wireless.

I mean: my pumps sometimes get out of sync. So I need to resete the driver (hold mode and set, press hold, press set - or something along those lines). Then I need to go into config, assign master, assign slave, and reset master.
Can you do that remotely through web interface?? is there some kind of indications on the itnerface that pumps are out of sync?? or there is some sort of error code?? my drivers/controllers are withing 10" of each other so distance is not an issue. It doesn't happen often, but maybe every few months. |

I don't know that I've seen that problem. You can define (for selected modes) which pump is the master and which is the slave. You can very easily assign one pump to be anti-sync then change it. So I would assume, if a pump forgets whether it's master or slave, you could just bounce the profile and it would re-establish the relationship.
