MP40 Placement Suggestions

I will be doing a shallow 60G peninsula style reef and was looking for opinions as to where I should place an MP40. The tank will be coming off the wall peninsula style with the overflow and return on the short side against the wall. I originally wanted to do 2 MP10s one on each short side, however, the tank is 1/2" starphire as it is rimless. I've changed my mind about pushing the glass thickness limits of the MP10s and have decided to go with one MP40.

My question is where would you place the MP40 on this application ... The short side coming off the wall with the overflow/returns in the direction of the return, which would be going across the surface, or on the short side opposite of the returns/overflow ?

Obviously it would look nicer on the return side, however, I would definitely consider placement on the opposite/display side if it would be advantageous.

Curious to hear what everyone thinks as it has been a great conundrum for me. If only the MP10s would work on 1/2", but I digress ...

Not the best but in this photo the overflow/return will be on the left side and the display short side is on the right. So basically on the left side going with the flow of the returns or on the right going against the flow of the returns

What are the tank's dimensions?

you probably would have been able to do 3/8" glass for the end panels, but the tank is made already I think, so that's moot. I'd go with one MP40w on one side, you should get good flow throughout the tank with that, although it will be unidirectional.

Thats what I was thinking also, I've just been going back and forth as to which side to place the MP40. Against the returns would likely provide somewhat of a chaotic flow pattern even though the returns would be going across the surface, but then again going with the returns could provide a gyre like effect throughout the reef causing an upwelling effect for increased nutrient transport. You've undoubtedly seen the MP40s characteristics on numerous applications, where would you suggest placement if it were your setup, against the returns or with them ?

I'd go against the return so that you can get flow from two directions.
