sump

How many inches should I leave inbetween each baffle in my sump? My main tank is a 40 gallon breeder, sump is a 20L, I wanna have a refugium, THe skimmer I plan for is a swc 120 cone, I have a mag 5 return pump. The sump will look like this Left to Right if your looking at the tank, Drain from display, skimmer, baffles, refugium, baffles then return pump

I'm too lazy to measure my 20L sump right now. The best piece of advise I can give you is to put your skimmer in there first and mark the tank where you want the baffle to go with a grease pencil or a crayon. Do the same for your return pump. put in the rest of your baffles and you now have your fuge.

Mine intake from the display is in the same area as the skimmer. No need to create an extra baffle. > fuge > 3 baffles (over, under, over) return pump.

Here is mine, before I added the last "over" baffle before the return pump. I thought it would be fine without it but never under estimate the power of water falling five feet. It creates a lot of bubbles. HTH

I "had" 2 baffles before the return. I put the 3rd one in about a week ago. before it was over/under...now its over/under/over. much better control of the bubbles. Bubbles were basically being sucked under and straight to the return pump. My skimmer is an octopus nw110.
