Using a rubbermaid tank as sump?

Anyone running it? Can you post some good bad experiences?

Thanks
Sunny

I currently am using 2 rubbermaid storage bins as my sump on my 120 fowlr. I also have used the rubbermaid stock tanks for qt tanks and holding tanks.

I personally would never use it.... for aesthetic reaosons!! lol... however... functionally if the baffles are well made, and sump is designed correctly.... it should give no problems! IMO... I mean it's basically the same thing... a reservoir that will hold water & fit your skimmer, socks, pumps, etc.

Most Rubbermaids I've read online are NSF approved for food contact. I've seen pictures in the DIY forum I believe and people do well. They're a lot cheaper than getting a custom-made acrylic sump. The one bad thing about some Rubbermaids is that they can be thin and prone to breaking/leaking. However, you can always double them up on top of each other to make sure they're structurally stable.
