20XH - Ok for a 10G stand?

The stand is wrought Iron - it is designed to hold two 10G's (top/bottom config). I picked up a 20XH for a song this past weekend. While the total weight would be the same for the stand (I wouldn't put a 10G under it if I placed the 20XH on the stand), not sure if the top or bottom could hold double the normal weight.

Any ideas/links/comments?

Thanks much

are the base measurements the same(length and width)? yes it is the same amount of weight(total) but you are going to have it all on one rack instead of 2. IMO the top rack is not intended for this, and you might end up with wet feet.

Should be no problem. Iron stands are remarkably strong. The only issue can be stability- a screweye into a stud and a loop of strong wire to tie the stand to the wall at tank level is good insurance. There is no specialty stand made for a 20xh-nor is there one made for a 45- which fits on a 30 stand- or a 65 on a 40 breeder stand.

i had the same situation a while back with a freshwater set up, depending on how much rock you would use, it should work, i ran mine for a year with quite a bit of gravel and decorations, so it had some extra weight other than just water, it made me nervous how it looked but it never had problems
