Lame Question: How to set up my SWC Xtreme Cone 120 Protein Skimmer?

I bought an SWC Xtreme Cone 120 Protein Skimmer. It came with no instruction manual or owner's manual, and I can't find one on the Internet. I have read that this skimmer comes fully assembled and should be ready to go, right out of the box.

But still, it came with an extra down-tube (at the end of which is an elbow), suggesting that some assembly is required. I can't find any information on the SWC website about instruction manuals or owner's manuals. What am I missing here?

What is that extra down-tube for? Do I just place the skimmer in the sump at the recommended height listed on the SWC website and plug it in? Is that all there is to it? Does the skimmer simply take in water and discharge water in the same chamber, as I am hoping it will? Something doesn't seem right here.

Any advice appreciated, including on how I can get an instruction or owner's manual for this product.

Thank you.

You have it right. The extra pipe come with all skimmers. It so you can quiet the skimmer output. If you get splashing you need to install the pipe to quiet it down. You want the exit to be half way out the water.

Other than that. You just set the water and go. After it breaks in[a week or two] you adjust it to skim wetter or whatever way you want.

Thanks, USC Fan. Very helpful. You say if it gets to splashing, I need to install the the pipe to quiet it down. To what portion of the Skimmer does the extra pipe get attached? And to where does the unattached part of the extra pipe get placed or aimed?

Thank you.
