Red bunch algae problem
Hi guys,
I`m from Bulgaria. Please excuse me if my English is bad. I have problem with Wrangelia argus or Red bunch algae. Previously I had red lime algae in my tank but I use Chemiclean and I fix this problem for 4-5 days, but from 1-2 weeks this thing start to grow and it`s getting out of control. Can anyone help me with some advise how to rid it? |

To Reef Central Your English might be better then mine, and I live in America Anyways, I have had that in the past -- couple of things that seemed to help; Manual removal Increased nutrient export (( be it increased water changes, running skimmer wetter, phosphate removing media )) Urchins "Mexican" turbo snails (( might be difficult for you to acquire )) Yellow tang Blue eye tang (( Ctenochaetus binotatus ))

Thanks for the advise. All says that Mexican turbo snail is the best for this kind of problem but it is really hard to find it here in Bulgaria. So you say that no chemical filtration will help? Some other colleagues propose me to use Dolabella auricularia. I try but this thing die in my tank so quick... I don`t know why but it is a fact. So I`m waiting for more suggestions. Thanks again.

Sorry, my real life and health are more important. If things go well today, I should be able to help more tomorrow, so sorry I didn't provide you enough information -- good luck.

How are your phosphate levels? I have no experience with that particular algae but if you have elevated phosphates, I would try the media. Rowphos works very well for me.
Are urchins available near you. My tuxedo urchin eats every kind of algae in its path!
