New Brute, how do I clean it?

Hi, just bought a 32g can from HD. Before I start mixing salt, how do I clean the can to be sure it's clean? Vinegar bath?

you know, this is a great question. I have wondered the same thing. There will obviously be some production oil residuals on these, but what is the safest way to get rid of them? I used vinegar bath and multiple fresh water rinses, and have had no problems, but i may have gotten lucky

Thanks, that's probably the best idea. Guess we'll find out for certain together.

I never thought about this, I just rinsed with the garden hose and let air dry. Then I made the RO/DI water from there.

Given that they are food safe, you would think that it undergoes a thorough wash at the factory before they ship......mine seemed pretty clean when I got it, so I just rinsed it with some water from the hose.

Rinse from the hose, roll it into the kitchen and start. Haven't had any issues here.

I bought mine from HD and they kept them outside in the garden center. So mine had a few leaves and other debris that the wind blew in. I just rinsed it with a hose, took a scrub brush to it, then rinsed again. No problems at all.

vinegar on a paper towel, wipe down and rinse, no problems for me. Also works to get oils off new skimmer.

Same here, except I used a little dish soap and rinsed good.
Did that with both my 20 gallon kalk barrel and the 34 gallon water change barrel as well.
Been over 2 years now so I think the cleaning was sufficient.

I threw a few handfuls of my dry salt mix and some kalk, added a quart of RO water and scrubbed it down with a scrubby (the type for acrylic), rinsed with RO/DI a few times...
