Recently purchased pink zoas. The offender has been removed, but are there more? Just got the MH lighting going so I guess we'll be seeing more and more of this life.
Thanks forn the speedy reply!

not a problem! it probably came in on your zoas as a hitchhiker. unfortunately there are probably more. do you have any more zoas in your tank? check the new zoas out after the lights go out tonight. you might see some more of those coming off your new zoas. another thing to look for is eggs. those nudis lay these tiny egg sacks directly on the zoanthids. it will look like a tiny white spiral on your zoa.
i'm trying to get you a link to a dip you can do that will get rid of them. it worked for me in the past when i had this pest. unfortunately reefcentral servers are wicked busy right now. :/ edit: here you go... http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...hreadid=451720 .. i followed these instructions and they worked for me. heres another thread with lots of links about zoanthids http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=632970 Last edited by Skeptic_07; 03/14/2011 at 10:11 PM. |

Thanks for the links! I didn't realize zoas were so toxic. We'll be looking for more of these creatures after lights out, as well as there eggs. We got a small piece of rock last week with one mushroom on it, it also has dozens of very small polyps on it, kinda like zoas, that I thought may grow to be a nice freebie. I'll keep an eye o that rock as well.
