Live Rock recommendations & suppliers

I am getting back into the hobby after being away for a few years. I have previously bought Fiji and kaelini live rock from Liveaquaria and reefscience.

I have been googling around and am seeing rock from vari9us suppliers are greatly varying prices and was looking for input from others.

here are a few suppliers I have found I am curious about:
aquacon.com
southseasaquatics.com

here are a few different types of rock I am curious about:
Carribean Live rock (aquacon.com)
marshall islands live rock (aquacon.com)
vanuatu live rock (aquacon.com)
Tukani Live rock (southseas)
Indonesia Live rock (reefscience.com)

I am after size and color. I just would liek to knwo if there are much betetr choices out there. Maybe Fiji is common because of price.

I really like the coloration Chad shows on reefscience.com but man is it high ($8/lb shipped) but if that is what it takes...

I just purchased 70lbs of fresh live rock from gulfliverock.com I did speak to jim and told him the size of my tank and what I wanted it to look like when scaped. He is putting togeather the rocks for me ensuring they will stack in the shape that I wanted. I have seen some of his rock that a local here purchased from him, I do say it was teaming with life, thick coverage of coraline algae, live corals, couple of nice porcilin crabs. No bad hitchikers on that batch. So thats why I went with him. Rock delivered was $4 per pound. This is just what I am doing, I will know better tomorrow or Thursday when my shipment arrives.

If I were going to buy live rock online I would go with Tampa Bay Saltwater. Rock looks awesome, is sustainably cultured and they ship it in sea water. You will need to watch for hitchers but if its a new tank you have time to get them out. I would not shop on aquacon

+1

I'm getting my rock from here soon too. Amazing life and diversity. Lots of hitchhikers, good and bad. If you have the patience to get rid of a few mantis and gorilla crabs you'll never regret it. Check out d2mini homepage and you'll see the rock and all the extra goodies you may get. Gorgonians, sponges, maybe even a fish or 2!

Can't speak for him but I remember reading quite a few posts on this forum saying that they are a terrible company. AquaCON, etc.

I am really liking the look and price of the rock on LiveAquaria and will probably be ordering 45 pounds of Fiji tomorrow.

I just picked up 45lbs from them. Great looking rock and had the best price I have found.

Got my Premium Fiji from LiveAquaria and was very happy. Came packed in very wet newspaper, in a plastic bag, in a styrofoam container. Rock was great in size and shape and I barely had any rubble. I had them ship overnight for the little extra. Happy with the purchase

Now if they could just do my aqua scape, I've change it three times.
