Green slime I.D. and also have cyano.

I have this green slime that has been growing on my rocks. It's not HA. I have no idea what it is because I have never seen it since I started my tank in 09. I also have a cyano outbreak that I cannot get rid of. In the past I have used the "Red Slime Remover" and it always works great when I follow the instructions.

Can anyone tell me what this is and how to get rid of it. I am due for a water change but most treatments tell you to add the medicine and then do a water change a couple days later. So I want to find out what this is... get the stuff to treat it, then do the water change.

You can see it here starting to grow on and around my coral.

That look like dinoflagellates to me. Do a search for it on here and you'll get lots of good info.

Cool thank you.

I have now shut off all the lights and wrapped the tank in black garbage bags (started 72hr lights out at 630pm).

Turned the light for my cheato on fully (no timer,24/7)

Mixed up a batch of strong kalkwasser that I will drip to top off tonight.

Got some more GFO coming from BRS.

Just turned my lights on yesterday. After keeping lights out for over 72hrs, topping off with kalkwasser and dosing 1ml peroxide to 10 gal of water every day, the dino's have started to go away. I will continue to dose the H2O2 until they are gone, then I will maintain a dose of H2O2 maybe 10ml a week.

Mine did not disappear at night. They were still floating around like you see in that picture when I shined a flash light in the top of the tank in the middle of the night when it was pitch black.

Mine didn't seem to come back stronger each day either. Yeah they gradually got worse, but not like twice as bad as the day before each day.
