Well i got the do it yourself kit and it was easy to put together and works great I like stirrers better than the pump mixers I just think blasting the kalk all over the place would take way to long for it to settle out properly anyway i made a few mods on the stirrer i added a piece of acrylic rod to both sides of the blade to help with stirring and on the inline i added a t fitting so the water would not stir up kalk when entering chamber you can see that mod from the pic. For the money it cant be beat I plan on getting the ozone reactor for my next project.

I'm running a reactor and I finally got sick of replacing maxi jet propellers! How much kalk do you add and also do you ever clean it completly out or just add more kalk. Thanks for the info!

I got one when they were called grey seas aquatics. worked fine. just make sure you don't put too much kalk, as it may be too much for the motor to handle. kalk + water gets sticky/gooey. I sold mine since kalk was not enough to handle my tank's ca and alk requirement.

Do people run the motors 24/7 or do they have them on a timer.

They have a caculator as to how much kalk you need based on evaporation I put in 1cup wich is supposed to last me two weeks based on that so far looks about right been running it over a week and its went down allitle. I wouldnt put more than 3 cups in at a time that would be pushing it i think. I have mine on a timer it will run for a min them off for 5 or so as far as cleaning havnt had mine long enough but should be pretty easy as top doesnt attach.

you are supposed to run it 24/7. This is a real kalk stirrer and not a pseudo kalk stirrer using powerhead.

I can guarantee you the motor life will not last long if you overwork it too much. It is not a heavy duty motor. Experiment on how much kalk you think it can handle, once you start hearing the motor click, then you know you put in way too much kalk than the motor can handle. Its a good equipment, make it last forever.

Im not familiar with the Kalk stirrer but I just (yesterday) received one of their Ozone reactors. They make some really nice equipment and their service and support is excellent. Any questions I had were promply answered and they shipped my order the day it was placed in spite of the fact that I had them drill and tap an extra hole in the lid for my pressure gauge.

Needless to say, I am a very happy camper and extremely pleased that I chose them over the competition. Their design and quality appeat to be top notch and I would expect any of their other reactors to follow suit.

I am using a Luft air pump. The water feed is from my manifold that is T'd off my return pump (Reeflo Hammerhead)... I have a GFO and Carbon reactor each plumbed directly to my manifold so I just removed the Carbon reactor from the manifold feed line and ran the effluent line from the ozone reactor directly to the carbon reactor. The Carbon and GFO reactors are BRS Jumbo reactors.

I still need to do some tinkering which I will do this weekend but so far, so good.

Thanks for the info. I did buy a replacement motor just to have on hand. I hate my current kalk reactor.
