Question PH and ALK question

I haven't dosed a single thing in my tank yet but with salifert tests I am getting

450 calcium
10.9 dKH
PH probe is reading around 7.70-7.73

How is it possible that my alk is so high and PH so low? I am using Reef Crystals salt. There is a ton of flow in the tank, 1 mp40 and 2 mp10's, so that isn't the issue.

pH is low because there is too much CO2 in the room where the tank is. Open a window and watch it go up over the course of a day...

Just make sure your water surface has lots of undulations to help the CO2 exchange process. Try keeping your windows opened in the mornings to help raise PH because that's the time the tank's PH is at it's lowest.

Not really, you'll just be forcing more CO2 at the water....

You can run an air line for your Skimmer out the window too

Bowhunter what your alk level high alk and low c02 will raise ph Kalk will raise ph Sodium bicarbonate will lower the pH and a calcium reactor will also This article should help you. On a second thought check your measuring device and make sure your getting accurate reading before doing anything drastic seems kinda high readings to me!

moved pumps to surface, tried opening a door for awhile but its 80 outside and I don't want it that hot in my house. Got some palm plants and put them in the room. The PH is up to to 7.79... I wish I could get it over 8.
