Tunze 6105 mod?
I had read somewhere that the cover on a 6105 can be replaced with the cover from a 6205 to widen the flow pattern. Is this accurate?

That's the goal. The 6105 stream is too narrow. No matter where I place them they move the sand around.

Yes, you can. I use the wider covers on my 4' 120, and it greatly reduce the blowing sand. It is very comparable to the width of the Vortech pumps, and it reaches the other side of the tank fine. No mods have to be done at all, they just clip right on like the stock size covers do. It is part 6205.130 on the Tunze site.
