Warner Marine K2 Cone Skimmer

Hi,

I have this skimmer for a couple of weeks now and it's a great skimmer. It's pulling out a lot of junk. My only problem is the pump is pretty loud, I think it's the Sicce PSK2500. Is there anyway I can quiet this pump down or what's a good replacement pump that is quiet and reliable. Thanks.

is it running the red demon wheel ? the first ones did not come with this. but the skimmer could use a bb2000 or a tunze hydrofoamer 9420

Not sure what's the red demon wheel, and why? How is the bb2000 or tunze hydrofoamer 9420 compare to the psk 2500? More quiet, less watt, produce better?

Would the tunze hydrofoamer fit perfectly to the K2 skimmer?

I think it might be a tough fit because the inlet to the skimmer is pretty high. You might have to make some type of stand for the pump

It's a red pinwheel. If you take the volute off, you'll know right away. The RD pinwheel seems to me much quieter than the original white one.

Hi, I had same issue, the pump is loud, but will break in, it takes a little over a month and will quiet down. This is what helps, put a brick on top of skimmer cup, as the whole thing is vibrating, this will keep vibrations down and the pump will break in faster. Sounds strange but the extra weight on top for a couple of more weeks will do the trick, it worked perfect for me.

This skimmer has definitely been break in. I got it used from somebody and it was definitely running over a year.

Do you think I should replace it with this RD pinwheel or don't waste my time and money and go out and buy the tunze hydrofoamer.

The pump is skimming great, it's just the noise is what brothering me.

well it should of come with this wheel unless it was one of the early ones. Then it would have had the cnc or msx wheel. same thing different color.

the tunze will need a stand just as the psk2500 has one. the bb2000 would probably really close to fitting

So, is the bb2000 any good? How's the noise level and how well does it perform? Thanks so much Mojo for trying to answer all my questions.
