Replacement Impeller for Bubble Magus Skimmer NAC6A
Which one should I get? Both are about the same price.
BM needle wheel impeller or SWC NW/MW impeller |

They are actually all the same magnet/shaft with a different head. The Meshwheel heads are snap on (and break very easily) and the pinwheel heads are glued on. I switched over from the meshwheel to the pinwheel a couple weeks ago and I would never go back. The skimmer is quieter, the bubble production is better, and when you order from SoCal tropical fish you get 2 day mail and a new shaft/grommets included. From what I understand noone is shipping the full meshwheel impeller replacements anymore anyway. You can only get the new heads which will snap immediately if your magnet is even the slightest bit out of balance.
This is the part you want: http://socaltropicalfishoutlet.com/c...er-p-1251.html |

Can you try to repost the link just so I can see what you are talking about? The link you posted did not work.
When you replaced the impeller with the Needle Wheel from Socal did you replace both rubber grommets, the shaft, and the ceramic washer that comes with? A lot of people forget the little ceramic washer and it messes everything up. |

Interesting that you like the needle/mesh hybrid better then the pinwheel. Most people usually find that the pinwheels are quieter. I figured what you were going to show me was a needle/mesh hybrid like the stock impeller.
Did you notice if your wedge valve position changed at all when you switched over? |

That site is banned from RC, that's why the links won't work.
I just got that same needle mesh hybrid for my brothers SWC160 cone, should make quite a difference when we swap it. I've always gotten better scfh numbers with mesh and never noticed any noise issues.....

Let me know how you like it Badazz. I sort of just got the pinwheel because that is what SoCal sent me when I ordered the Mesh Wheel replacement. They told me that the original meshwheel wasn't being shipped anymore because of durabliity issues. I was pleasantly surprised about the performance, but I am not committed to the Pinwheel by any means.

Sorry to bring this back alive, but im having a issue with my NAC6. Lately it has not been producing bubbles like it has in the past year. Its as if the water level inside the chamber (even at the same setting as before) is sitting much higher / the bubbles are not concentrated. Now all my sps / lps are doing very well still so im thinking its either i have nothing for the skimmer to pull out (50g water volume total) or there is something stuck in the impeller / air line. I checked both and both are clean.
Anyone have any thoughts. Im stumped with this one.

You probably need to replace the mesh wheel inside of the pump. When it starts to show the signs you are explaining the wheel is going bad. It will probably crack and not work at all in the near future. I have had the same problem and when I took it apart I saw that the wheel was cracked. I had a replacement which came with the skimmer. They also have them listed on ebay for $10.00 with $5.00 shipping and handling. I would sugest paying the $12.00 shipping and handling because you will get it much quicker. The part is coming from China. I recently purchased another one from the seller on ebay and I got it in 5 days. Here is the link
