want to get back into the hobby

Hello all, I am a new member of this site, and I am looking to get back into this hobby after a 8 year absence from it, I had a 65 gal reef tank which i enjoyed setting up and maintaining for over 2 years and now i want to set up a smaller tank, either a FO or a FOWLR set up, I want a set up that is fairly easy to maintain....I am thinking about a live rock with a HOB protein skimmer for my filtration in my tank, with 1 or 2 small power heads for movement, with NO lighting, or would using a canister filter without any live rock be easier to take care of?.........thanks in advance for all the help and/or suggestions you have, cheers!!!

why no light how u going to admire fish, there is no easy in sw only hard, harder and hardiest. for what you are asking you should try fresh water, any way canister filter you can neglect a little longer but is more maintanace when the time comes, and think about what kind of fish you want to keep and read up on what there needs are, hope that helps

It is not that hard to set up an easy maintenance tank. The key to an easy maintenance system is light stocking. I would use alot of LR and one of the Reef Octopus skimmers for filtration. If you are going to stock heavily than add the canister filter and clean it often. I would use a T5 double strip light (one 10k and one actinic) to view the tank.
