Stealth Heater Recall Returns
Well. I heard about an issue with the Marineland Stealth heaters, which I really liked and trusted. They kept my fresh and saltwater tanks steady over the years. When the Stealth Pro came out, I got one of those so I would have a spare to heat water for changes. When I called in about getting a credit or getting a heater replacement, I was told that only a few batches were affected and for me not to worry about it.
This week I received several emails which said that ALL Stealth heaters were on recall and it gave a toll free number to start the recall process. I called today and was asked how many regular / Pro Stealth heaters along with the wattage of each. They are sending me the redesigned Visi-therm to match the size of each I am returning. When I get the new ones, I send back the old ones. I've had my original Stealths about 3 years, so I'll gladly take new replacements. If you have your receipt, then you can get a refund. Otherwise, they will replace them which is fine by me. Here is the info for anyone interested: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "In our previous Marineland Stealth Heater Alert we advised you about a stop sale order that applied to all Stealth or Stealth PRO heaters of 100 watts or greater. Since that time, United Pet Group, in cooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, has been investigating this matter and have now decided to issue a voluntary recall of all Marineland Stealth and Stealth PRO heaters rated at 25 watts or higher. They have determined that a wiring problem may cause the heater to overheat or break during normal use. The force of the heater breaking may cause it to shatter and may even break the aquarium glass. Owners of the listed Marineland Stealth and Stealth PRO heaters should contact United Pet Group directly at (800) 338-4896 between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Your safety and satisfaction is of great concern to us so, if you have any of these heaters, please remove them from your aquariums and call Marineland as soon as possible." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's just a small glitch that can only cause the heater to blow up just enough to blow up your tank and level anyone standing in a 50 ft radius. Take care, Tech Diver

I didn't buy mine there and I also didn't have a receipt, so I wasn't sure if they would take it.
