Bridgelux vs CREE Leds : Input needed

I understand that Cree puts our more lumens per watt than the Bridgelux leds.
But I guess that would be a concern only if your tank is too deep.
From a price point, bridelux leds are almost 1/2 price of the Cree ones.
Does the lumens per watt really matter for shallow tanks ?
I am pretty sure that whatever brand I go with, I wont be driving the Leds to their full wattage.
So why aren't Bridgelux Leds as popular as the Cree ones ?

Your input is appreciated

I put together a 12 - 3w Brigdelux LED for my fuge and all I have to saw is WOW. My chaeto is really growing like crazy now compared to my old CFL light. I did take some PAR measurements in my fuge just for S and Gs and was getting mid 300s about 6" down. I'm using 8 white and 4 blue though.

Solitude127,

How's your tank with using the LEDS from Aquastyle?

I'm considering using the Bridgelux LEDs simply because of price.

Any advice you can give me would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm using bridgelux LEDs on my mixed reef tank and it is awesome! The whole more lumens per watt just means they are more efficient. I hear most people that run Cree either run them much below 100%, or don't run as many LEDs as they should and the tank looks really shadowed. IMO bridgelux LEDs are the best bang for your buck

I'm happy with them. They do well for my fuge. I don't have any experience with them trying to grow corals though
