How many LED's ?
How many LED's do I need for my 36"L x 12"W x 20"H tank ? I want to be able to keep a BTA and some mushrooms. I am planning on making my own LED fixture but I need to know how many LED's, What colors, lenses degree (I want my light about 1.5' to 2' away from the tank), how much space between each LED, What's the diference between XR-E and XP-G and XP-E.
Thanks for your time and the help, and sorry about having so many questions. |

I would do atleast 24 LEDs. The difference between those models of LEDs is the current they can run at and their efficiency. If you look up the spec sheets for them you can see their luminous flux rating in terms of lumens/watt which will provide you their efficiency rating. You obviously want the most lumens/watt for energy efficiency, but certain model LEDs might not have as many optics, or color options as others.

Thanks for the info. This LED thing is very very confusing for me. So many options out there and it is hard to choose one, and I want to get the right one. Thank you again.
