Question about live rock

this guy is selling his live rock and said that it could be out of the water for a year, is this true?

In order for live rock to stay live rock, it would need to be kept in water to keep all the beneficial bacteria and such alive. If it has been out of the water, it is probably base rock. I would let it soak in a tub for a couple weeks still since it might have a bunch of crap on it still.

Red face Live RRRock?

Iff the rock dries out the live turns into dead. You could leave it dry for a year but you will have to reseed it with some liverock and live sand to get the good biological bacteria growing again.

That's a good deal for dry rock. I left my rock dry for over 6 years, it was no longer live but it is now LOL.

Anything under $2 /lb for base rock is a decent deal
