Brown Slime :(

Wheew, cant catch a break. Get rid of GHA, and cyano comes. Get rid of Cyano, and now I have brown slime.

FUN. Any good removal techniques? Or continue with anti-PO4 methods like phosphate media and vodka/sugar dosing?

It doesnt sound like you're really getting to the problem. You need better export of nutrients. Tell us about your filtration. Skimmer?

Socks changed every day or every other day. ASM G3 skimmer (i need a better one, just not in the cards yet) and I also run an algae scrubber.

I feed every other day, Rods. It's rinsed, drained, rinsed again, and then fed. Only enough to feed, im very careful not to overfeed.

I've had a high nutrient issue in this tank since day 1 and have had nothing but battle after battle. Surely would just like a nice pristine clean tank

The only other thing I can think of is lighting. Sounds like a pain.

Huge pain. I plan on buying all new lighting in the next few weeks. Hopefully that'll help.

Feel your pain as I have been going through the same thing. I have been battling the slime since December. Changing my lighting system seems to be doing the trick currently.

Your ATS should be able to export nutrients sufficiently if made properly. What size tank do your have? Whats the size of your canvas? What is your flow rate for your scrubber? And is it lit on one side or both sides? Also, could you post some pics of your scrubber setup?

Thanks

12x18 sheet. Trimmed width wise by an inch or so. 1 x CFL (96w equiv). I cant find a secure way to mount the second light on the backside. Right now i'm pulling, what i consider to be, large amount weekly. On the second page you'll see the bowl i use to clean the ATS. Right now it overflows out of this bowl weekly.

T5, 8 x 36". Right now my daylight circuit is dead and I cant figure out why (ballast is fine, bulbs seem OK). Going to replace all 8 bulbs since its been about a year, and hopefully i'll find out whats wrong with my daylights.
So presently, just the actinic's are running.
