ASM skimmer help.
I recently purchased an ASM skimmer off a CL seller. From my research I discovered it to be a G3. The pump is a Sedra 3500. My problem is that it produces bubble, but not enough as shown on many youtube videos. I was wondering if anyone could help me troubleshoot the problem.

Hi,
So how new is your tank? What is the Bio load? I am running a ASM-G2 on a 75g and it really has never pulled much "gunk". I never mod’d my skimmer, but if you do a search for ASM Skimmer mods, there are a lot of things you can do out there to increase the skimmers efficiency (if you are a DIY guy, I’m not lol) I had to set my pipe as high as it would go to get anything in the cup (usually light and wet), there was always a good amount of poo built up on the neck though. Anyway, skimmers take time to break in, so if it has only been set up for a short time, give it a few weeks, things may pick up. _Dave |

I had a g3 for years and now use it on a tank that I maintain. I never modded it until very recently, I put a gate valve mod on it, which allows for fine tuning the water level. What is the water level where you have it? that may be the issue or a clogged venturi as stated by percula 9.

If the above items do not work (and your tank isn't new), I can state that I do need to replace my needle wheel every so often when it stops producing good foam. I'd say I've replaced it twice in the 6 years I've had it...so every couple years I think it needs it. They are rather inexpensive and may be worth a try if needed...
