Arrow crab pulling legs off?
Didnt know exactly where to put this, kind of new here so i placing it here.. My arrow crab molted on thursday and seemed fine, then today i was watching him and he seems to be pulling legs off out of no where. He only has about 2 left and his front claws out of all the others... Anyone have any idea why this happens or why he would do this? WAter levels are good and not high anymore so im confused.

Check your water parameters. They should match what I have in my sig, or pretty close.

Crabs get rid of their limbs as a final try to live. that is why when you cook a crab its legs fall off fish.

I thought losing it's legs are because they are under attack? could it be his water parameters?

yeah it doesn't make much sense. what sucks even more is he is hiding somewhere and I can not find him, all i can find are a clump of legs from him which leads me to believe he pulled off even more.... I guess tonight i am going to have to dig around and try to find him, hopefully he isn't dead but i have a feeling that he is

Please let us know how he is doing when you find him. I have an arrow crab too. out of all of my crabs I personally think he's the coolest looking. Arrow crabs are so friendly and they don't bother anyone.

Will do! I totally agree, he is the coolest thing that is in the tank (well, besides my starry blenny) and it kills me thinking that he is dead/dying... He bothers no one and no one bothers him so its ashame he is in that conditon.

I've had no luck finding the arrow crab, i pulled the tank apart and moved rocks to look for him and searched high and low and he is no where to be found....?... Can't imagine where he is, but its not looking good. Don't really know what to do at this point
