30 Gallon Sump
If I plan on making a DIY Sump, how big of a tank (for the sump) would I need?

You can never go wrong with the "bigger is better" idea for a sump! As long as you have the room to get around in it from the top, the more sump the better!

I always use the biggest sump that can possibly fit under the stand. My current tank is 60x30x24... the sump underneath is 48x24x20.
