newb. need help

Hello,
I'm setting up my first brackish tank. Going to get myself a puffer and need a bit of advice. I'm going to be running two biowheel filters. i've heard that i shouldn't run the wheel part of it, and just use the filter. I'm confused as to why other than the wheel makes nitrates. If no wheel what do i need to filter. I've been freshwater guy now for 6 years. I'm going to be running a 55g that is only a foot wide so i've got no room for a sump.

To Reef Central

Live rock is what most use as filtration for a fish only set up. I'm not familiar with brackish tanks though.

You should be ok running the 2 wheels. Clean them as recommended (I think its once a month from what I remember) rinse in RO/DI brackish water.....

If you're not keeping corals, nitrates aren't as much of a concern.

If it is just a single puffer or two then I'd use the biowheels. If you do regular water changes that will keep nitrates in check.
