R/O Unit Question

Haven't changed my filters in over a year. Yet TDS is still at or near zero. Should I be concerned?

I used to have to change the filters every 6 months or so.

Zero TDS is the qualifier. If you have extremely clean feed water (like mine, I bet close to half of you refer to my tap water by it's other name: Dasani) then your filters will last longer. I still change my carbon and fiber about every six months or so, but my RO and DI stages last forever.

"still at or near zero"

have you tested it or are you guessing? I change mine about every six months and RO filter once a year. I change that when my resin starts getting used at a faster pace.

Tested vs. tap water. Tap water is 120tds. R/O water is 2.

.2 is still acceptable but you might be in the market pretty soon. Also depends on what your ro/di unit is rated for and how much water you filter. I haven't changed mines in almost 2 years and I'm still reading 0 TDS. I use about 200 gallons a month and my ro/di unit is rated at 750 GPD at 50 psi. So I still have years of use left in it.
