Leaking(?) 75 Gallon

Checked on the tank tonight and saw water seeping out from underneath. I doubt it's just all the water I splashed out while feeling it leeching out of the wood. Right now the number one culprit (in my mind at least) is a crack caused by setting the rocks in. I didn't drop any, and I figured 1/2" tempered glass could handle it. Assuming it's a crack in the bottom though, wouldn't the entire bottom of the tank shatter because it's tempered glass? The wood I'm using as a board is apparently rotted enough that when we push up on the bottom, more water seeps out the front. So either the pressure from the wood is forcing water leaked under the tank to move, or it's just a water-logged piece of wood? But why would it seep out the top and along the front of the tank? How would I check for another reason like a leaky seam? If there's an issue it's somewhere along the bottom edge.

It's a typical metal frame stand, maybe inch long/wide L metal running everywhere. No center brace. The plywood the guy gave me was for more support. I was planning on re-enforcing it with wood and making it a bit nicer looking anyway. If the seam is bad do I just re-silicone the entire front/bottom?


Here's a pic of how it leaked onto the wood, the aquarium didn't sit that far back that all the water was in front, the front of the aquarium was probably covering 3/4s of the wet wood. Not sure why the left side was wet so far back? It's tempered glass (99% of bottoms are right?), so if it cracked it would just shatter?



I've had the tank filled for a few days now, and just last night added the rock to it. There aren't any cracks that I could see, and no obvious weak spots in the silicone. It didn't have this issue before I added the rock, so I'm not sure what caused it? Those lines are just from momentarily storing the board on its side.

where is the waterline in the tank? if its near the rim it will leak

The top rim? It was very close to there, probably half a centimeter from the inner lip. I put a lot in because I'm going away for a few days tomorrow and didn't want too much to evaporate.

i did the same thing when i first set up my 28g...put too much water in and it syphoned thru the top rim...i thought i cracked it with the rock i put in....it took a couple days to dry out,i just put some shamwows around the bottom of the tank....it may seem like its still leaking because the water will sneak out from the bottom of the tank till it dries....if its extra full thats what my money is on

Interesting, the front wasn't wet at all but hopefully that's it. I filled it a third of the way and am going to let it sit overnight, and if no leaks tomorrow fill her up and see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

Yeah I've had a tank create a siphon through the top trim. thats a mistake you'll only make once. Now my water level is always at least an inch from the very top.

TMF89 - In response to one of your questions (and like you thought), I don't think there is any way that your tempered glass has a leak and has not completely came apart (as tempered glass always does). If there was any crack of any size that could allow water to come through it, I am pretty sure the entire bottom would have already completely blown up under all of that pressure.
