Bulk Reef 5 stage plus/drinking water

First of, what an awesome kit. I was hesitant for some time in getting/ making the transition to RO/DI water since i have pretty good results with my tap water. Few questions though. The TDS meter, Should i be reading anything going into to DI canister, if so is it an indication of the pre filters( sediment, carbon)? Coming out is Zero. When should you rinse the the RO membranes?
And how exactly do you do that? Thanks so much for your responses in advance.

You will get some TDS at the output of the RO membrame. The DI will bring it down to zero as long as it isn't depleted. I rinse my membrames for about one to two minutes at the start and end of producing a batch of purified water. You should have a valve that diverts water past the flow restrictor on your system. Just open the valve.

Oh ok its the valve mounted just under the RO canisters? Also the pressure gauge is reading about 80psi, I have the 50gpd upgrade. The gauge is an indicatior of dirty filters, what would the pressure be when its time for a change? Is the pressure to high?

I have a BRS system and it has two valves. The one you want is installed parallel to the flow restrictor. The other one is mounted between two of the cartridges and is used to flush the carbon filter before the initial use. I have the chloramine system and I'm not sure if the regular chlorine systems have the second valve. I'm at work and going from memory, so I can't give you a much better description than that.

I believe you mean you have the 150 gpd upgrade. The pressure gauge, if mounted in the standard location is measuring the pressure into the RO membrane. I would think that 80 psi is fine, but you may want to move these questions to the BRS forum. As it is I use a decrease in pressure to let me know when to change the sediment filter.

The regular systems don't have the second valve. At least mine doesn't. BRS 5-stage-plus.

I have the same kit. It was easy install and is overall a great kit. but i noticed yesterday i filled my drinking water jug with the water that comes from the pressurized tank and the water smelled like rotten eggs. I searched online and it might be hydrogen sulfide. do you guys have this problem? or have you heard of this?

I'm guessing it's specific to the chloramine system. Mine's the 6 stage deluxe, but I doubt that would make a difference.
