Overflow size?
I have a 150 tall which I have never been able to keep corals in( set up several years but I had to slowly accumulate the right eqipment). My water parameters are stable but the tank has been a struggle since day 1! I originally only had a wet/dry filter on it rated for a 90 but upgraded a few months ago to a 30 breeder we are using for a sump. I am still using the same overflow, hose and return. Per theses pictures I am wondering if the overflow is woefully undersized and if so- it seems maybe a lack of flow has been a problem possibly for the corals? I have plenty of light and use ro/di water. Any input will be truly appreciated! Please no flaming...I am still a relative newb who loves this hobby but am also a busy mom of 3! Many thanks!!!!!!

Whats your flow from the return?
I have a custom 155 sps tank and I only run about 750-800gmh return on it.(Mag 9.5) |

can you give a few more details on what overflow you run? and possibly a picture of the whole setup? Seems like you dont have enough flow running thru your system. Also wet/dry filter system with corals is bad especially using bio balls in it.

Looks to me like that overflow is designed to handle about 500-600gph. It should be fine for the turnover rate between the sump/DT. But if low water flow is your concern, powerheads are your solution. Get a couple of Maxijets or Evos in the 1000-1200gph range. Or drop the big bucks on a Vortech MP40.
But waterflow may not be the problem. You mentioned your parameters are stable, what are they? (all of them) Do you run a skimmer? Carbon? GFO? ATS? What corals are you trying to grow? How much live rock? What other fish/critters do you have? What about your light setup? Which fixture? How many bulbs? Which ones? How old are they? I can do this all day, more information makes it easier to troubleshoot.
