Small Particles in Water

Alright so yes I have searched for the answer to this but I have found nothing. I know this is probably asked a million times but I couldn't find a single thread.

Anyways, I have a 30 gallon reef tank with an aquaclear 70 gallon HOB filter. I have small particles in the water column that I can't get rid of to save my life. I also have a Remora HOB protein skimmer which I added for a day but I cant seem to get rid of the bubbles it adds to I pulled that pretty quick. It looks like the particles are from the slick that forms on the surface which is getting disturbed by return. How do I clean my water up?

Its driving me nuts!!!!

All tanks have "particles" flowing in the water. Is it making the tank cloudy?
Skimmers have a break in period.. and may act weird the first few days as it does its job. can you slow down the water intake any? I would turn it down all the way.. that should help with the micro bubbles for now.. but you may still see some until the skimmer "breaks in" but def keep it running

sadly the skimmer you have is among the "worst" in the reefing community
If you can.. I would def get a different one! Eshopps & Octopus HOB skimmers are great and def Worth it!!!
I ran with a Red Sea Prizm for years.. hated it and found it was one of the worst! I recently got the Eshopps HOB and I am AMAZED by how awesome it works!!! I paid $100 on eBay for it and saved about $60

the particles you see are normal & all part of a good water column its what lots of corals, inverts, and even fish eat... (and other filter feeders)

Edit:
do you have fish? inverts? anything that may be stirring up the sandbed? this could also be what you are seeing. and the skimmer & filter will suck that stuff up too. the skimmer especially is good for this, as it takes out all the gunk

You can always convert your Aquaclear 70 into a refugium and get a new protein skimmer at the same time.

yea I picked up some 100 micron filter sock sheets today to try and rig something up. I'm not sure how well the refugium idea work with that small of a container.

you sure the particles aren't little pods swimming around? I see that a lot in my tank, although sometimes it's sand from my jawfish tidying up his house.
