I have my reef tank for 7 years. I always use DI unit made by one of my LFS stores. Now I decided to buy RODI unit, but there is so many of them. What brand you guys use and what you recommend? 3,4 filters. So confused. Please help me to decide. Thanks!!!!

I got mine from a reef central supporter, there is a link at the top of the page for sponsors. I went with BRS 6 stage for like 250 bucks or so...... screwed it to the wall by the washing machine and was using it in pretty short order. I've not yet had to purchase new filters and change them yet, so my experience is limited.

the amount of stages and what you run in them is directly depending on how good your water is from the tap. some people need none, some only need 3 , some NEED 6 . theres a ton of useful info at the bottom of the home page on the ro/di link . i would start there before trying to pick what we "think" is right for your specific area's water quality .

In interests of not wasting money on the initial purchase of a system, and thereafter on filter replacement, a 4 stage system is the default. Sediment filter->Carbon block->RO->DI. Only add additional stages if you are trying to treat a specific water quality issue such as high sediment loads, chloramines, etc. Here are some things to look for in an RODI system for this hobby: Standard-sized prefilters, membrane, and DI cartridge Brand name, high-rejection membrane Specifications provided for each filter/stage Pressure gauge after the prefilters and before the membrane Thermometer TDS meter DI bypass Vertical DI stage Refillable DI cartridge Aluminum bracket Quick connect fittings No water from pressurized storage container delivered to DI Membrane flush valve Clear housings High-quality instructions written in clear English Customer support before, during, and after your purchase A vendor involved in your hobby Russ |
