What are these? Seems like they are multiplying in my TANK!!!!
Okay guys I need help with something....about a two weeks ago I noticed one semi small but noticable white pouch develop on the size of one of my live rocks....in all honesty it remind me somewhat of what you might see if you were looking at a spider's egg pouch. Then about a week later I noticed SEVERAL of them (much smaller in size than the first one)on different rocks in my tank. When My husband pulled one off it had a mushy consistancy and peeled right off. I seen my snails and hermit crab investigating them the other day but it did not look like they were eating them. We do not know what they are, if they are something we should be concerned about or just a normal function of life in the salt water aquarium???
Please help!! I tried doing a search of my own but turned up nothing. |

They look like pineapple sponges (aka Q-Tip sponges). They're harmless filter feeders. They come and go based on the condition of the water. I wouldn't worry about them.

Yep, pineapple sponges. Perfectly harmless and just another cool thing that will grow in your tank.
