Still catching fish

Last year I posted a series of pictures of one of my Lysiosquillina sulcata catching damsels. The animal has grown a bit and has become even more proficient at spearing its lunch. This was actually breakfast this morning.

Lysiosquillina sulcata feed almost exclusively on live fish. I guess I should have fed it an ugly grey fish instead of a pretty blue one.

Awesome pic .....

If you lived in SW Florida you'd have an endless supply of ugly grey bait fish from any bait shop.

Nah, more color contrast this way. I can't believe how sharp your images are though. Truly awesome photography.

Wow that picture is just awesome.
Keep them coming Roy!

And I'm sure none of us mind it was an evil damsel that met its end to the L. Sulcata lol

Nope....and i don't know why anyone could get upset....he's just recreating nature. I mean if this was the wild that L.Sulcata would have eaten many many fish. whether its a damsel or some "uglier" fish does it really matter?

Its like owning a snake...sure you can feed it frozen unthawed mice.....who wants to watch that tho. Its part of owning a mantis that we all love. The hunt...I also love his pictures! Keep them coming Roy

Beautiful pictures. This happens in nature. Colored, pretty fish or not the mantis would take it.

Dr. Roy, how often is it fed?

We feed our Lysiosquillina twice a week.

Any photos I post you are free to use except for commercial purposes. Thanks for asking.
