Questions for starting a nano reef?
Hey everyone!
I have had this 20 gallon long tank for a little while now lets say I started this tank in Feb. My questions are- 1-How do I form rocks in my tank ( to make it look good)? I will post a pic of what I have now. 2-What type of corals are good for a t5ho 2 bulb light? 3-What type of corals can host clownfish? 4-Do you think I could get frogspawn and a Kenya tree? Please help! Thanks! P.S.- Here is what I have in my tank 2 black and white clownfish, feather duster, 2 live rocks, coral banded shrimp and chocolate chip starfish. 1) Be creative
2) Softies (mushrooms, zoanthids, leathers, etc.) 3) Clownfish can be hosted by different things such as Hammer Corals, Frogspawn, Mushrooms, Green Star Polyps, etc. 4) Yes You should think about getting a 4 bulb T5 fixture. You'll have much more options with coral.

There really is no trick to stacking rock, just re-arrange it until you think it looks good.
So assuming your t5HO light is 24" which means 48 watts I would think you can keep softies and lps for sure. You might be able to keep some low light sps too. Clownfish host many different corals even powerheads and corners of the tank. Most captive bred clowns wont host, but some do. With that in mind, some corals they'll host in are frogspawn, torch, hammer, palys, gsp, ect... I think you can get both of those corals, however, you can't get any coral until you get ride of the chocolate chip starfish. They will eat all of your coral! |

I think my chocolate chip starfish may be ok I think ill get one coral and see how it goes. lol my rock right now to me is pretty bad so I think im going to order some more. I know my light fixture is a 30in. is there any type of light that will add a few more watts without buying a new fixture? Thanks.

A 30" fixture used 24" bulbs. There isn't a way to add more watts without buying a new fixture, but you can upgrade your bulbs, assuming you haven't done that already. You can also add Led's for less than 100 and be able to keep everything. |

What do u mean by add LEDs since u said that you can't get more watts without buying a new fixture? I have a 10k bulb and I think a 420 actinic bulb.

You can either supplement your existing unit, or get a whole new unit. http://www.rapidled.com/servlet/the-...its/Categories
