Adding additional LR tips?

I'm planning on adding some additional LR to my tank. My tank is 4 weeks old with 45lbs of LR currently. I only have 3 Chromis, 12 blue legged hermits, 10 nassarius snails, 3 Florida turbos.

How should I go about adding the additional LR?

now was it actually cured or just in a big bin full of 'live rock'. Either way, probably still had some die off and/or nasty water soaked in to cause excess nutrients to fuel algae. I dont' think any of the lfs I go to have a separate container for cured rock versus their new live rock they get in. all goes in the same tanks so it's all pretty nasty. could always put it in a bucket with some flow going and clean new saltwater, let that churn for a few days, water change, churn, ect., and test that water to make sure it's not horrable. (basically re-curing it yourself to be safe) Reason I'd do it that way is because you have livestock in the tank at the moment. If the rock isn't that cured, could be harmful to use right away.

Being that your tank is only 4 weeks old, I'd just make sure there is no visible dead stuff (or bad stuff - aptasia, mojanos, etc) and put it in the tank. You may very well get a small cycle with it, but really, you are still in the middle of the initial cycle anyhow.

I'm thinking of going the base rock route to avoid any of the above mentioned risks.

Outside of rinsing the rock for powdery film, I should be good just adding to tank.

Right?

I'd cure it for a week or two and add it in small amounts to avoid an ammonia spike from any die off.

This. All you need is a 5g bucket and a powerhead.

So avoid any risk to my tank's water params and live stock, is the using of base rock a good idea?

This way it can seed from the existing LR.

Base rock is fine. So is dry rock. However, they also may contain organics that decay as well as possibly PO4 on the surfaces that will leach back into the tank and should also be cured, imo.
