Don't trust Hydor Koralias to restart, going back to Maxi-Jet

I am leaving for a 9 day vacation and do not have anyone competent to watch my tank. I have a kid who will put an ice cube of food that I make for when I am gone into the tank, but probably would not even notice if my cirulating pumps were not running. I pulled one and put in a Maxi-jet 1200 and will do the same with the other before I leave. The evelution 1050s that I have in my tank have a less than 50% chance of restarting if there were a power outage so I can not take any chances with them. Think I will get the impeller mod kits too. Any issues with the impeller mod kits not restarting? Signed,

i am having the same issue with my 750, i keep it clean and same problem, it will usually restart after 10-20min but sometimes doesnt

do u know what the issue is?

No I do not. I had a 750 that did the same thing. I was told the new Evellutions were more reliable so I bought two of them - same issue. I hope I get some good feedback about the Maxi-jet mods and if so I will do a couple of them. Good luck.

anyone have an idea why they fail to restart before i call hydor tommorow, i came home the other day and the pump wasnt turning(have to manually turn the blade for it to get going), woke up today to the same thing(power keeps flickering alot here), not even an hour ago i come home to the same thing, thankfully the AC hob filter is a trooper and kept the water moving

Never had a problem with mine I have the evo 1400gph. Had for 4 months no start up issues.

My 1400 started having issues, it was just clicking on restarts, after about a year. But you can get the 1400 on sale for $20 some times, which I call a good deal if it lasts anywhere near a year. If you want pumps that done have problems go higher end, Tunze or Vortech.
