What do powerheads do?
Can I use an Azoo Powerhead Model 2500 to pump water back to my tank up from my sump? My sump will be about 4 1/2 feet from the top of my tank.
Is there any other product you would recommend for this? |

Depends on how much flow you're trying to accomplish. What size are your display tank and sump? The Azoo 2500 is for 660gph at 0' head, with your 4.5' of head between the tank and sump, I don't think it will quite do. Eheim pumps and Mag pumps are internal ones which are recommended by others.

I agree with pmark. That thing looks like a maxijet and puts out about the same as a small model powerhead. Not really a good choice for a return pump imo. Look for an actual pump and not a powerhead for a return. Both Eheim and Magdrive make decent units that would work with a 29g.

depends whats in the sump tbh, if there is a skimmer and reactors down there then you will need more flow IMO, however if it is a refugium you may be ok, however the guys are right really, a return pump is the way forward, as papgimp mentioned an ehiem is a good bet.
