I can see small holes about 3mm in diameter from the side of the glass, what are they? And why they re there? Hope it's not something bad...
Thanks in advance |

probably the places where tiny bristleworms have traveled through. I get this as well. Nothing to worry about.

I think it's products of respiration by the bacteria present in the sand. I have them too.

Part of the denitrafication process. Do not disturb.

Is your sand bed pretty new? The first 6 weeks I noticed these small holes/bubbles in the sand. My understanding is that they're products of the denitrification process as well. Best not to disturb the sand bed, as you may get release of toxic gases.

Jakarta, Indonesia's beach sand may be a little cleaner than what we are used too.

Buying from LFS is so much cheaper than going there and take em (boat, petrol cost)but it's more fun that way plus I can appreciate their habitat by mimicking what they used to live. Other areas are still good yes, especially those in rural areas but Jakarta...no way. |

I know this is an older thread, but I'm also new and just noticed this in my tank. Is there any way to know if they're air bubbles or worm holes? I know it doesn't really matter, I'm just curious lol
