Is this water level too high for skimming?

I just got this skimmer setup and I am still battling water in the cup. It seems that just as I get it to the right level a few minutes later there is water in the cup again.

I like to let my skimmers break in a spare tank outside encase they overflow not good inside. Can you raise the cup more.

I can raise it about 2-3 more inches. There is a small hole in the side of the unit where the bubbles spill over in to the return instead of going up the collection cup tunnel. I am assuming it is ok for this to happen?

I think that is so it does not overflow onto the floor. I would raise it and see what happens.

Also, reef octopus is a sponsor of the forum and has their own page. Jeremy is great to work with and can likely get you going quickly!

That is correct.

You can also put something under the in/out tubes to raise the skimmer if need be to lower the water level in the skimmer.

You can also modify the cup to a remote container like I did with this one, although I never used it.
