Agitation for ATO water

Is it necessary to have agitation in an ATO bucket that has about 4 gallons of RODI in it? The water lasts anywhere from 3 days to a week or more. I know we can use smaller amounts of water too but I am curious how long water can sit without stirring other than when the pump pumps out what it needs for the top off. That happens about twice an hour, for a small amount, maybe less maybe more. Having written this I realize I am curious how long a bucket of RODI can sit without agitation at all. Can it sit for days, a week?

Years, centuries, millenea. There's no need to stir it.

Agree with disc1. Nothing should grow in a covered RO/DI tank.

Sorry to did up an old thread, but I have just cleaned out my ato reservoir after about a year. The bottom was covered in a slimy coating? Is this normal? It had no smell.

Would adding a powerhead stop this or is there no need?

Thanks for any help!

+1. I have this same issue in both my ATO chambers, both are filled with nothing but 0 TDS RO/DI. Nature will find a way?

I just posted about this here.
