may not be reef safe and not as cool as this blue sponge :P but at least you could clean the glass with it.

That looks like a very rare Blue Scotch Brite sponge. The green sponges are more common. AFAIK the scotch brite is the only sponge that can tolerate salt water, fresh water, dish water, or any other kind of water. They are quite hardy and will happily live for years and then just disintegrate. Scotch brites have a nasty habit though of slowly accumulating toxins, bacteria, and other chemicals and then releasing it all at once. They quite often smell a bit 'off'.
