Cure live rock in 5 gal bucket?
I have 5lbs of live rock that I put into a 5 gal bucket of saltwater today. SG 1.024 with a heater set at 78 degrees and an air pump with airstone to move the water around a little. Trying to cure the rock before adding it to my biocube 14 that's already up and running.
Will this work with desirable results? I also have a Koralia nano 425 powerhead that I could use instead of the airstone, but figured it'd be too much for the 5 gal bucket. |

You rock will cure just fine in that bucket, although I don't think the Koralia would provide too much flow and would use that instead. I've cured rock in a bucket with a Maxi-Jet 900. You just have to be a little careful that the pump doesn't point upward.

If you want to speed it up you may want to try throwing in a small piece of cured live rock to the bucket. I'd use the Koralia too.

Moved the live rock over to a rubber maid tub with the koralia and a heater. I don't really wanna take any cured lr out of my tank, so hopefully it won't take too long to cure without it.
2-4 weeks maybe? |

will have to wait and see, no real way to tell how much die off/gunk is on the rocks. personally I would start testing at 4 and expect 6 and wait 8 just because I am a paranoid bugger

I would just test the water once a week I think the last time I cured some rock it took about 2 weeks not sure though but it sounds about right.
