recommend some chillers and what HP?
I have a 180g, probably net 200g water FOWLR. I have central A/C, but the room the tank is in does not get very good A/C. the tank in my bedroom run 74degrees and my 180g in a diffrent room runs near 80 degrees with NO LIGHTS, as i use mostly room fluorescent lights for this tank.
can i get some chiller recommendations? i'm considering keeping colder water angel and am considering keeping my tank around 72-75 degrees.

I run a JBJ 1/3 hp chiller on my 215. It does a fine job. A separate controller is not necessary, I just use the chiller's internal controller.

Been reseaching overnight on some of the old threads. I think I will need a 1/4HP or 1/3HP. I'd like to drop my 200g net from 80degrees to 72-73degrees. Probably would go with JBJ.

I have a JBJ Artica 1/3 on my 180 Gallon. Just be made aware that when it comes on it warms up the air in the room its in. It's also not exactly quiet you definately hear it when it comes on. The good thing about it, that in my situation in comes on like 3 times per day so not a big deal just have to endure the noise for like 10 minutes or so. I keep my temp at 78 degrees and have an 8 x 80 watt T5 fixture which is on 10hrs a day.

I used a 1/3 hp from aqua logic on my 210g for about 4 yrs with no problems. They are a little pricey but good solid equipment.

I have the JBJ 1/3 HP and have it vented into the garage. It's not silent but only runs every few hours.

My buddy got one of the AquaEuro chillers in May. It is pretty close to silent. Seems to keep his 180 cool without running all day long. |
